New races of Azeron: Haranir and the Battle for Azeroth races

Asyncio 30 October 2026 37

Besides the Legion allied races, Azeron has six more races to play: the Haranir, Mag'har, Vulpera and Zandalari for the Horde, and the Dark Iron Dwarves and Kul Tirans for the Alliance. There is no recruitment: the races unlock as soon as your account has a level 110 character. An overview of all races is in the Allied races guide.

How to unlock

  • You need the "Level 110" achievement on your account: a single character of any race and faction that has reached level 110 is enough.
  • After that all six races become active on the creation screen, for both the Horde and the Alliance.
  • A new character starts at level 20 in the embassy: Horde races next to the ambassador in Orgrimmar, Alliance races next to the ambassador in Stormwind. They already wear a level 20 set and have four bags and a Hearthstone.
  • You can change race to one of these only if it is already unlocked on your account.

Hunters of each of these races start with their own pet: Haranir and Zandalari with a raptor, Mag'har with a wolf, Vulpera with a snake, Dark Iron Dwarves with a dog and Kul Tirans with a mastiff. Zandalari Druids take troll shapeshift forms.

Haranir

  • Thorn Bloom: active, every 3 minutes. At the chosen spot, nearby enemies take Nature damage plus 12 seconds of damage over time, and allies get a heal plus 12 seconds of healing over time.
  • Lash Out: critical strikes and critical heals are 3% stronger.
  • One With Nature: Herbalism +15 and faster herb gathering.
  • Subterranean Predator: more experience and damage against beasts, elementals and aberrations.
  • When the first Haranir on your account reaches level 110, a letter arrives with the Rootstalker Grimlynx mount.

Mag'har Orcs

  • Ancestral Call: active, raises one random stat for 15 seconds: Critical Strike, Haste, Mastery or Versatility.
  • Open Skies: faster mounted movement outdoors.
  • Sympathetic Vigor: more health for your pet.
  • Savage Blood: poisons, diseases and curses last shorter on you.

Vulpera

  • Bag of Tricks: active. On an enemy it deals Fire damage and slows; on an ally it heals and grants speed.
  • Make Camp and Return to Camp: remember a camp location and take you back to it. You cannot return from dungeons or battlegrounds. The camp itself is not visible, and the saved spot resets when the server restarts, so make camp again after a restart.
  • Nose For Trouble: the first hit from each new enemy is softened by a shield worth 5% of your maximum health.
  • Fire Resistance: less damage from Fire.
  • Alchemical Theory: an Alchemy bonus.
  • Rummage Your Bag is not available.

Zandalari Trolls

  • Regeneratin': active, rapidly restores health over 6 seconds; taking damage interrupts it.
  • Pterrordax Swoop: slows your fall.
  • City of Gold: 2% more gold from creatures.
  • Embrace of the Loa is not available: you cannot choose a loa.

Dark Iron Dwarves

  • Fireblood: active, removes harmful effects and temporarily raises your primary stat. The more effects removed, the bigger the bonus.
  • Mole Machine: takes you to the Great Forge in Ironforge. Works only outdoors, not from dungeons or battlegrounds. You cannot pick another destination.
  • Dungeon Delver: 4% faster movement indoors.
  • Mass Production: higher Blacksmithing skill and faster crafting.
  • Forged in Flames: less physical damage taken.

Kul Tirans

  • Haymaker: active, after a short wind-up it hits the enemy, stuns and knocks them back.
  • Brush It Off: slightly increases Versatility, and part of the damage you take is gradually restored.
  • Child of the Sea: longer breath underwater and faster swimming.
  • Rime of the Ancient Mariner: less damage from Frost and Nature.
  • Jack of All Trades: a small bonus to profession skills.

Good to know

  • These races have no heritage armor or racial mounts, apart from the Haranir mount letter.
  • There is no intro cinematic on the first login: the character appears in the embassy right away.
  • They get quests and gear on equal terms with the other allied races of their faction.
