Getting started

How to start playing on Azeron

FAKER 15 September 2026 50

Step by step: create an account, get the WoW Legion 7.3.5 client, point it at the realm and log in. Almost every problem a new player hits is either the wrong client version or a typo in the server address.

What this server is

  • World of Warcraft: Legion, client 7.3.5, build 26365. Level cap is 110.
  • Free to play: no subscription, no expansion purchases.
  • The version is fixed at 7.3.5 and will not move on.
  • Experience (kills, quests, exploration) is x3. Loot, gold, honor and reputation are x1.
  • This is an open beta: bugs and database wipes are possible.

Step 1. Create an account

  1. Open the Start playing page and fill in the registration form. Accounts cannot be created from inside the game.
  2. Your login is 3-16 characters, Latin letters only. This is exactly what you type in the game's login window.
  3. Use a working e-mail address and a password you do not reuse anywhere else.
  4. Click the link in the confirmation mail. Without a confirmed e-mail you cannot post on the forum. No mail? Check your spam folder.

One account covers all three: the game, your account page and the forum. There is no separate forum registration.

Step 2. The 7.3.5 client

  1. Download the client from the link on the Start playing page. It has to be 7.3.5 (26365) — other builds will not connect.
  2. Unpack it into a short path with no spaces and no non-Latin characters, for example D:\Games\WoW735.
  3. Do not install into C:\Program Files: Windows will stop the game from saving its settings there.
  4. Run Wow-64.exe on a 64-bit system, Wow.exe on a 32-bit one.

A 7.3.5 client from another server works fine — you only need to change the address.

Step 3. The server address (realmlist)

In Legion the address does not live in realmlist.wtf. It goes into <game folder>\WTF\Config.wtf.

  1. Open Config.wtf in a plain text editor such as Notepad.
  2. Find the SET portal line — if there is none, add it at the end of the file — and make it read:
SET portal "legion.azeron.org"
  1. Save the file and start the game. The address appears at the bottom of the login screen.
The quotation marks are required and there must be no stray spaces. A single typo leaves the client hanging on "Connecting" forever. If your edits seem to do nothing, make sure you are editing the Config.wtf inside the folder you actually launch the game from.

The Azeron launcher writes this line for you before every launch, so if you use it you can skip this step entirely.

Step 4. Your first login

  • Type only your login in the account field — no "@" and no e-mail address. The login is not case sensitive; the password is.
  • Pick the realm, then choose "Create character".
  • Faction matters more than race: Alliance and Horde cannot group or share a guild, and they cannot read each other's chat. Roll the same side as your friends.
  • A Demon Hunter starts at level 98 and requires an existing level 70+ character on the same realm. A Death Knight also starts at a high level.

Step 5. What to do next

  1. Finish your starting zone — at x3 experience that takes a few minutes.
  2. Buy bigger bags and pick up professions: two primary ones plus cooking, fishing and first aid.
  3. From there, follow the levelling guides for 1-100 and 100-110 in the Guides section.

The website and your account page

Your account page uses the same login and password. It shows your characters, lets you change your password, link Telegram, review your login history and see your coins. Coins pay for name, appearance, race and faction changes, and for restoring a deleted character.

  • Register on the website only, and confirm your e-mail.
  • Log in with your account name, without "@".
  • This is an open beta — wipes are possible.
