Fixes for October 13, 2026
All changes listed below were installed today. Some of them have not been verified in game yet: those items are marked separately, and a deployed improvement does not mean that a report has been fully verified.
General changes
- Loot in old expansion zones: Loot of creatures and chests in old zones (from the classic zones up to Draenor) has been rebuilt. Previously every item was rolled separately with a very small chance; now cloth, potions and other common items drop with normal chances, and uncommon and rare world items are rolled from shared pools. Recipes drop for those who have the matching profession. On average a creature now drops slightly more items. Quest items, as well as raid and boss loot, are unchanged. Still being checked.
- The word “cond” in chat: When a quest cannot be accepted, the clear message “You don't meet the requirements for that quest.” is now shown instead of the service word “cond” (and similar marks). For example, the Ornate Weapon starts a Darkmoon Faire quest and only offers it while the faire is in town, so keep the item until the faire returns.
- Creatures on ships: Creatures that move around ships and zeppelins (pets included) no longer drop combat and snap back to their place on every charge: the server now calculates their position relative to the ship itself. Still being checked.
Hardcore Contract
- Contract: A new character is offered the “Hardcore Contract” window once, at level 1 (it is not offered to Demon Hunters). The window lets you choose a mode — Veteran, Iron Man or Blood Trail — and extra conditions: no health regeneration out of combat, double fall damage, no Dungeon Finder.
- Death during the challenge: A character with a contract is no longer deleted right after death: a “Continue the challenge” window appears. A buyback with AZ Coins resurrects the character on the spot; if you decline, the character is deleted.
- Hunger and thirst: Hunger and thirst are switched off in hardcore, the bars are gone and there are no penalties.
- Ladder and info: The /hcladder ladder window now uses the same style as the contract window. Players can use the .hc info command: it shows the mode, extra conditions, state and number of buybacks.
Professions
- Archaeology: Solving a rare Broken Isles artifact (Crown Jewels of Suramar, Spear of Rethu, Starlight Beacon and others) now immediately adds the first quest of the archaeology chain to your log, and the item itself is awarded at the end of that chain; if your quest log is full, the project is not solved and no fragments are spent. The Ancient Frostwolf Fang now awards the Frostwolf Ghostpup pet. Dig sites are no longer appended to the old list and are no longer rerolled on every login: each continent has four sites, the survey tool works on all sites in Azsuna and Suramar, and sites without find points are no longer given. On the first login some sites may change once. Artifacts that were already solved earlier will not appear in the journal again. Still being checked.
Demon Hunters and the Broken Shore
- Mardum and the Vault of the Wardens: Kor’vas Bloodthorn and Cyana Nightglaive no longer finish off Brood Queen Tyranna and Immolanth by themselves: allies only help, and the kill, the key and the credit go to the player. In the mirror vault, an extra copy of Altruis no longer appears after the last mirror is turned, and the Glazer no longer recasts its beam every few seconds or twitches in place. Still being checked.
- The Fel Hammer: Allari the Souleater only offers the version of “Time is of the Essence” that is turned in to Kayn Sunfury; if you have the version for Altruis the Sufferer, abandon it and take the quest from Allari again. Kayn offers his own version of “In Pursuit of Power” and accepts it himself. Each character now receives “Return to Mardum” in one version only, according to the choice between Kayn and Altruis. The regular Battlelord Gaardoun disappears once “Spoils of Victory” is complete and no longer stands inside the elite one.
- Broken Shore introduction (Horde): Allies on the shore no longer start fighting while you are still sailing in, so all fel lords are credited; a fel lord killed too early is credited when the step begins. Soldiers in formation around the Warchief now have their own spots, the anchor rotates smoothly, the crystals without a base in the Black City stay in place, and the fallen bats and gryphons lie dead. On the climb to the last step, soldiers walk almost on the path and no longer fall off the bridges. “Protect the Home Front” is no longer offered (it belonged to a long-finished event), so it can simply be abandoned. Still being checked.
- Legion introduction (Horde): “The Battle for Broken Shore” is offered only by Stone Guard Mukar; Eitrigg no longer hands out a second copy. “Demons Among Us” and “Demons Among Them” are now mutually exclusive; while “Demons Among Them” is in your log, the demons and Sylvanas are visible, she has a dialogue option to warn her, and she stays in place until “A Weapon of the Horde” is turned in, which then opens “In the Blink of an Eye”. The “Demons Among Them” branch is available only to Demon Hunters. Still being checked.
Quests and events: Howling Fjord
- Mutiny on the Mercy: The mutineers in the hold no longer return to their place and drop combat on every charge, even at point-blank range (see “Creatures on ships”). Still being checked.
- Iron Rune Constructs and You: The construct is no longer thrown into the sea when driving onto the lift or off it, and you are no longer pulled back to the lift when you leave the construct. Still being checked.
- Let's Go Surfing Now: The harpoon now carries you to Valgarde in about ten seconds instead of almost a minute.
- Two Wrongs...: After being hit by Malister's Frost Wand, the proto-drake comes down to you, attacks again after landing and keeps fighting on the ground instead of flying back to its circle. The wand can only be used on the proto-drake. Still being checked.
- Sorlof's Booty: After the first cannon hit, Sorlof stops regenerating health, so there is no need to fire in bursts anymore. The chest appears where he dies, possibly right by the water.
- Absholutely... Thish Will Work!: After drinking the mixture, the vrykul prisoner thrashes around the cage and dies in a green cloud, while the guards react with lines; the quest is credited a few seconds later.
- Mission: Plague This!: Bomb hits on the plague tanks are credited again. Aim at the top of the tank: a bomb that lands on the ground next to it is not credited.
- I've Got a Flying Machine!: The drop-off points are back on the platforms, so a delivered bag is credited. The extra bag attached to the flying machine and the extra flying machines at the camp are removed; the two missing relic bags are back in the gorge.
Quests and events: Grizzly Hills
- Escape from Silverbrook: The extra rider was removed from Ducal's Horse: the scout mounts first, then you, and only then does the horse ride along its route. During the ride Silverbrook worgen appear behind you and give chase; the quest is credited at the end of the path. If the quest is already in your log, abandon it and take it again. Still being checked.
- Mounting Up: The Highland Mustang now comes to the carrot on a stick, you can ride it, and handing over the reins at the squire in the camp credits the mustang. The hand-over button is now first on the bar.
- Steady as a Rock?: After you use the seismograph at the eastern end of the tunnels, a device appears nearby for about a minute, and you can take the stability profile from it. The area where the seismograph can be used is larger.
Quests and events: Storm Peaks
- Bitter Departure: The Injured Goblin Miner can be escorted again: after the dialogue answer he runs to the exit, thanks you, and the quest is credited. While he lies wounded, he no longer wanders around.
- A Delicate Touch: The mines now explode next to Garm invaders and Snowblind followers, and every enemy killed by the blast is credited. The defense turrets no longer wander.
- Ricket and Gino's camp: The dialogue option about leaving for the Storm Peaks puts you into a rocket that flies to the camp where “When All Else Fails” is turned in. After “Opening the Backdoor” is turned in, the pads at Ricket's and in Gino's camp carry you to each other. The extra Gino was removed. Gino's sappers appear with “Know No Fear” (taken, complete or turned in), and at the same time the camp is shown in its assault state; the enemies for that quest are visible while it is in your log, and the altar for “A Flawless Plan” stays in place. Still being checked.
- Serpents over the plain: The serpents no longer hang in the air in a sitting pose: some of them fly around the plain, the rest sit on the rocks.
- Mildred the Cruel: The disguise of a Brunnhildar challenger is back in Mildred's mine, in Brunnhildar Village and other hyldnir places; while you wear it, Mildred is friendly and accepts the quest. Agnetta Tyrsdottar can be challenged to a duel through dialogue for the goblin quest. Still being checked.
- Discipline: The Exhausted Vrykul now gets up after a hit with the rod: either it goes back to work standing up or it attacks you. The hit is credited.
- Cave Medicine: The Infesting Jormungar fight the Cavedweller Worgs again. Six cave mushroom spots is the intended number, and a mushroom grows back in about five minutes.
- Sniffing Out the Perpetrator: Frostbite has his normal level and health back, along with the full trail to the cave, his lines and the chase. Iron dwarf pursuers appear on the ground a few steps from Frostbite and attack right away, and they run no faster than he does; you can fight them off with the net and the frost trap. Still being checked.
- The Iron Colossus: The colossus, the control orb and the tamed jormungar are visible only to those who have the quest taken and not yet turned in.
- Valduran the Stormborn: Valduran cannot be attacked while he is imprisoned. The war horn summons Bouldercrag and his companion, who free Valduran and fight at your side; if the fight fails, the horn can be used again. Still being checked.
- The Heart of the Storm: The event has been rebuilt: your character is stunned for about half a minute, Overseer Narvir walks up and addresses you (the gendered words in his lines now match your character), and then the step is credited.
- Where Time Went Wrong: After tuning the Hammer of Lore, your character says whether the artifact fits (the hammer reacts or stays silent), and a fitting artifact is credited at once.
- Memories of Stormhoof: The dialogue line of Chieftain Swiftspear is now translated into Russian.
- Going Bearback: After you mount up, Icefang walks a loop through the valley past the frost giants and worgs on his own and drops you off at the end; the bear's speed and abilities are fixed. If one loop is not enough, the bear can be summoned again. Still being checked.
- The Library Console: The neighboring prototype console no longer overlaps the library console, so a click hits the right one.
- Thorim: Thorim was moved from the underground hall up to the platform on top of the temple, where everyone can see him; his quests are available again.
- Cold Hearted: The captive proto-drakes have their chains back. The extra prisoners in ice blocks were removed from the free proto-drake, the second ice shell from the prisoners, and the extra freed warriors from around them. Now the ice shard breaks the ice, a prisoner jumps onto your drake (up to three per flight), and the prisoners are credited in the Valley of Ancient Winters. Still being checked.
Quests and events: Dustwallow Marsh
- Garn Mathers: Two extra copies of Garn Mathers were removed.
- Recover the Cargo!: The shipwreck debris has been moved to the sea floor. Put on the repaired diving gear and use the salvage kit next to the debris on the bottom, and a salvaged strongbox will appear.
- Raptor Captor: A weakened raptor now shows a message that it can be captured (the rope works when it has less than a fifth of its health left). Each captured raptor counts as one, not as two or three.
Dungeons
- Wailing Caverns: A “!” without a quest no longer shows over Muyoh, and his dialogue lists the quests that are turned in to him. Once Lord Cobrahn, Lord Pythas, Lady Anacondra and Lord Serpentis are dead, he starts the awakening of Naralex as before. Still being checked.
Other quests
- The Wandering Isle (Pandaria): Merchant Lorvo and Aysa Cloudsinger at Fu's Pond appear in one version at each step of the chain instead of two at once. After “Stronger Than Wood” is turned in, only one Jojo Ironbrow remains at the Dai-Lo Farmstead. Extra copies of creatures standing inside each other were removed.
- Where Kings Walk: While the quest is in your log, King Anduin is visible in the throne room of Stormwind Keep and accepts the new death knight's letter.
- Acherus: The Highlord's Nemesis Trainer no longer opens the bank or chases the player; it stands in place like the other training dummies.
